Heads up for all the newbies out there scratching their heads out there like I was. The current MakeHuman build ( Makehuman 1.0 alpha 6) absolutely requires Blender version 2.56a I got it to work on one specific 64-bit machine running Windows 7. From there I was able to move the .blend files onto my mac and load them with the latest version of Blender (2.59 at the time of this post.) The output file from MakeHuman needs to be the one named something like basehumanmale2011-25.mhx.
This is really important information, guys. All the resources I've seen recently just say something like "I'm using the latest version Blender" even though the video is several months old. It needs to be right there on the front page next to the download link. Most versions of Blender I've tried WILL NOT LOAD mhx files even though the Addon is visible there in Blender. I don't remember where I learned that 2.56a is the magical version that actually works, I'd spent the whole night trying different things and hunting around on the internet for a clue. Just tell people. Version 2.56a is what works.
(Also, you need to manually check the box to enable the mhx importer Addon in Blender.)
(Also, you need to manually set options in the config file.)
(Also, if you have a thick regional accent that prevents you from communicating, and you KNOW that you have a thick regional accent that prevents you from communicating, why not annotate your video? Text! Text, man! People can't misunderstand you if you just TYPE IT OUT!)
(Sorry for the tone of this post, but it has been an incredibly frustrating weekend. And all of it could have been avoided if you would just make this information AVAILABLE to people!)
