Seems to me the alpha value has ended up wrong. Maybe it can be adjusted on the principled node?

Note that using FBX as a pipeline between makehuman and blender is not recommended. Instead, you're better off installing MPFB and opening the makehuman save file directly.

I have actually seen this fluke in MHv1.3.0 and have yet to figure out why it happens. The interesting part is that, if I enable advanced render with the lightmap checked, the render is OK. If I turn off the lightmap, it reappears. The issue is not machine specific. This is a real head scratcher...

I hate AI with every fiber of my being.

Oh, and as long as social media scrapes the internet unchecked and unregulated, spamming is only going to get worse, since AI is baked into this garbage and people are hopelessly addicted to the crap on their "smart" fondleslabs.

The MakeHuman Community has a Facebook page. This is and always will be a real problem for those of us who are policing the forum and repos. The same can be said for any other cyber cesspool that uses phone apps polluted with AI bullshite. I am against this junk because I see the damage it does every day while servicing computers at my lab. Social media is a cancer which really does need to be either cleaned up or better yet, wiped out.

Unless we wake up and resist, these morally bankrupt market driven dung heaps will rule the world and use it up with no other goal than to get filthy rich, leaving nothing but grief and hard times for the rest of us.

I'm not sure it's AI. The original post has been edited and an advertising link has been posted there. It looks like it's handmade.

AI is getting good enough to be a rather convincing parrot because there are huge bit barns gobbling massive amounts of energy which are owned and ran by the very scumbags I speak of, with one sole purpose: use any means possible to steal and sell as much data as they can. Folks lap it up like a kitten at the milk dish. They are addicted. So you get these dorks trying to game the forum with a question that covers a crappy ad which has no relation to the topic. AI can hallucinate this way, pretending to be a person when it iis really just another scummy bot.

I read an article on a well known tech forum which extolled on a paper from a validated study which postulated that AI would fall apart if it ingested, and was trained on, enough of its own data as it belched out shite like this spammer and then trained on the belchage as it scraped its own post. As they say in war, a dog returns to its vomit. In other words, the current iteration of AI tools cannot be trusted because they are self polluting to be self serving to sling ads at web addicted fondleslabbers wallowing in the quagmire like big fat dirty pigs in turgid slop.

So, even if the spammer is a real human, they got here via a tag in some social media cesspool in cyberspace, probably via a "smart" phone since only true nerds like us know how to use desktop computers these days. It is this smart gadget pollution that must never find its way into MakeHuman. The community forum will always be polluted as long as social media can scrape it via common pages placed there which link to here. Yep. It really is that nasty. That is why it must be kept out of the community software. I cannot stress this enough...

Many thanks for all that you do, Tom. It is an honor to be on the same team with you!

Screw the spammers. A pox on everything they are and do and all who enable them to do it.

Back on topic as to problems with MakeHuman models...

I have two issues with MHv1.3.0, loading and rendering.

Loading

I cannot load models created with MHv1.2.0 using v1.3.0. If I try, the progress bar will dart quickly to the right and then show 0% with a blank viewport.

Rendering

If I do a render with basic render selected (the default state), I can see the mouth and eye cavities in the render. If I enable advanced render with the lightmap checked, there are no issues. I have tried this on several machines with different hardware and the issue is present on all of them. It is also present on Apples running v1.2.0 but not on Linux boxes running this older MH version.

Going forward

I have made about a thousand models in the older version. It would take forever to manually edit them in a text editor as recommended to change the version string. Also, to do advanced renders going forward will slow down the image creation process which limits what I can do with the finished models.

To top all this off, my main workstation crashed and took the Focal fork of Linux Mint down, trashing all the work I had done with the older version of MakeHuman. I had backups and was able to get most of my stuff into the newer version of MakeHuman on the Jammy fork of Mint, but the models cannot be opened there.

It is looking more and more like I need to get Blender 4x up and running with the new MPFB plugin. Then I must learn how to use it, and migrate my work to that setup. It is like starting over from scratch with a very steep learning curve. However, I am still holding out hopes that the two issues above will get sorted out.

Any suggestions from those who know more than I?

If you need to replace data in a text file in a certain line, maybe a program can do it? I'm not skilled enough yet, but I suppose an ordinary programmer could write such a program.

Ah. Similar to the file renaming stuff that can do batch runtimes on a folder fuii of files. Search and replace ops of a sort, perhaps...
