Exporting

Postby jwilwade » Mon Jan 10, 2011 8:51 pm

I am not sure this is a bug. When I export and import using C4d it will come in as individual meshes/ I can use the Rip Tide plug_in to correct this. However I want the eyes and the teeth to be separate objects for use in either Zbrush or C4d. Is their a way to separate these objects out in Make Human for export? Using C4d or Zbrush to change the UV maps or to change or sculpt the model or make clothes would be greatly assisted if the base model and the eyes and the teeth could be separate objects when exported.

Toggle the grp or groups button off when exporting.

Yes I understand about the GROUP tag or in this case button. I guess I did not explain it correctly. I want to export only the teeth, inner mouth and eyes as separate objects. The rest of the body is fine. It would be nice to be able to export all the head and the body separately but I can take care of this in C4d. The objective is to use different heads with the body. The texture for the Make human is low res and I would like to make it cleaner and more human in detail. Also I would like to separate the finger nails and toe nails as they could be textured separately as well. Again this is the minor problem as I can do that with little effort in C4d the real problem is exporting the Inner mouth TEETH, GUM'S and TONGUE as well as the Eyes and related sub objects to the eyes. Perhaps this would explain it better: Using a program called Face Gen I can create heads with all the expression and Phoneme morphs very easily. I would like to use Make Human to generate the Bodies. I can restructure the bodies in Zbrush to my needs. In C4d can connect the two elements , rig the character and be ready for what ever animation is required. So the original question is there a way to xport only certain items of the body or group certain items prior to export in Make Human?

Far as I can make out, the groups are all or nothing. Don't know whether C4D has this capability - I use Carrara, which gives the option of importing a grouped mesh as a single mesh or as separate groups. So, I export from MH with groups, load in Carrara as groups. Delete the joint diamonds. Group the eyes, teeth, etc. that I want to keep separate, group the body that I want to keep as one mesh.

Then export the body as .obj, delete the body in Carrara and re-import the body .obj as a single mesh. That way I have the body as one piece to be rigged, and the eyes, etc. as separate meshes, so as to be able to animate them.

Lots of jumping through hoops, but well worth the effort for the quality of the figures. :)

Why do you export the diamonds? There's an option not to export them.
