Was I suppose to do something else bsides just put the nightly build in a folder and run it?

I just downloaded the latest nightly build and put it in the Makehuman folder. Were there suppose to be Export folder there or soemthing? I don't see one.

EDIT:
Alright I tried the new exe and they're right, I can see my saved characters, but I can't load them.

When I try to load, it gets a
Lookup Error: No Codec Search function regiestered: Can't find encoding.

My python out file is acting strange. It was filled with too many things so I tried to clear it out, thinking that MH would just write new things to it, but it doesn't. How do I get it to write to it again.

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit, but I have the 32 bit python scripts installed. The build is in Documents folder but on a seperate drive than my actual operating system.

Out of interest sake, I tried deleting everything and checked out from scratch, but like the person above me, I'm getting the following when trying to load a character:
"LookupError: no codec search functions registered: can't find encoding"

Right now I can actually see my characters, the pictures I mean, but loading them doesn't work... I suspect this is probably an issue affecting all Win7 64bit installations. This stuff used to work though so I'm sure it is fixable, I'm just hoping we can treat it with some priority since several people are stuck in a state where they can't load their characters again, I also can't prove that my saved characters are actually being saved correctly...

I'm not a python developer so I have no idea what I'm doing, but I did a quick google search and this seemed to come up and it appears to be relevant to the issue here: http://markmail.org/message/ipn3u3e26bgeckc6

Thanks,
Raz.

Ok I am personally seeing to this problem now. I need one guy with win7 to have constant communication (through instant messenger ) with. Right now manuel seems to not be so regularly online. So if there is a volunteer with win7, I could probably fix this before my flight in 24hours. All you need is just update the .exe I will be building and once I am absolutely sure load and save works we can announce it in this thread. Give me a pm if you want to volunteer, thanks.

Go to your "models" directory (where makehuman saves your model) put all the (saved) files from previous makehuman in another directory so that the models directory is empty. Then try to save again with a specific filename. If you see the file name with extensions mhm and bmp newly created in your models directory then your save should have worked properly. Now try loading the models from what you saved.

EDIT: I just verified with DreamCube that this doesnt help.

With the help of DreamCube we figured out that the nightly (zipped version) .exe will work. But that version is an unoptimized mingwc build, so I definitely would want to get the optimized version to work as well.

I just updated the new .exe (optimized build) in trunk, hopefully this will fix it too. Could you guys give this a try. Thanks

oh..kay... Anyway I have a train to Frankfurt now. I think I know what's going on though. It's because we use SHGetFolderPathW and since Win-Vista and up this has become deprecated. To use it properly in Win-7 we have to use SHGetKnownFolderPathW. I will write a fix while in the train. Just a little more patience.

PS: Maybe running things with WinXP compatibility mode works? worth giving it a try..

Sorry, but compatibility mode does not work either.

No worries, I can still use the old one and other should still be able to get that nightly build.
