Are you absolutely sure you didn't run the old .exe? Manuel had the same problem as you in Win7 and then he ran the new .exe and now saving and such works for him

New .exe really changed something but didn't solve the rendering problem. My results here: http://www.makehuman.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1489&p=5645#p5645

It was broken in both 5.1 and in the nighlies. I've just updated my nightly and the loading screen now shows my old characters... however, loading itself still appears to be broken:
Code: Select all
('setFocus', <gui3d.FileChooser instance at 0x07C32E90>)
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "./core\module3d.py", line 1404, in mouseButtonUp
    self.application.mouseUp(button, x, y)
File "./core\gui3d.py", line 505, in mouseUp
    self.mouseDownObject.callEvent('onClicked', event)
File "./core\events3d.py", line 93, in callEvent
    getattr(self, eventType)(event)
File "./core\gui3d.py", line 1074, in onClicked
    self.onFileSelected(self.files[self.selectedFile])
File "./apps\gui\guifiles.py", line 118, in onFileSelected
    print 'Loading %s' % filename
LookupError: no codec search functions registered: can't find encoding

This is great progress so far though to try and get it back into a working state...

Moving your my documents really isn't that delicate, you just right-click your current my documents, go to properties and then choose the move option. It sounds like others who have not altered that also have problems in Windows 7 though.

Can someone please advise?

Raz
p.s. This is really appreciated everyone.

Tell us how you updated your nightlies. We will also soon post a new installation for the fix for 5.1

I do the SVN update and copying the windows bin folder into my MakeHuman folder. Do note though that my loading is not actually fixed... I can however see my models, but I can't load them.
