LightRoom2 - Rotate Camera?

Postby Antiqua_Sphinge » Wed Jun 28, 2017 11:46 pm

I've done several searches through documentation and tutorial for the answer.

When doing a render using LightRoom2, how does one rotate the camera?

Select the camera now on the bottom of the 3d window on the menu strip just to left of the word global you see 4 boxes with icons the axis, cursor, curve and line with a diamond on it's end click on the curve while pressing shift this will allow you to both move and rotate the camera I have included a blender screen shot with box to click circled.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Select the camera object and press "r" to start rotating.

You can see how the camera object looks in loki's image.

Noticing that in the image the camera is called "Camera_do_not_change" sparked the thought that you might be wanting a rotated view of the model rather than a rotation of the camera. Rotating the camera will just move the model around in the image, which might be what you want, but if your goal is to get a view from a different angle it would be easier to rotate the model rather than the camera, particularly, as hinted at by the name of the camera, the lighting has been set up with the camera position in mind.

Presuming that want a different viewpoint and that you already know how to move the view around as you work in Blender, another option is to open the right hand panel on the 3D view (open and close with the n key) and under View click the "Lock camera to view" check box. That way what gets rendered is always what you see in the 3D view.

Oy, I should have stated what I was trying to do versus my familiarity with more clarity.

Familiarity: I know next to nothing about this type of work, though I'm very proficient in other fields. KISS format for how to do something works best in this case. I've written standard operation guides with orbital, atmospheric, and ground level perspectives. I need the just out of basic training ground level instruction.

Goal: Get a rendering of the model with views frontal, 45 degrees, 90 degrees.

Tool In Use: LightRoom2.

In simple terms, after importing the MH model into LightRoom2, how does one rotate the model to either right or left?

Same principle: Select the model (or its rig if you imported it with a skeleton) by right-clicking it. Press the "r" key. Rotate the object. If it's important it is exactly 45 degrees around the z axis, you can combine the keystrokes into "rz45<enter>" to achieve the desired effect.

If you have the patience, go to youtube and search for "vscorpianc blender". She has excellent and friendly tutorials that start with the basics.

Patience I have in vast quantities, time to watch the tutorials not so much. That's kind of why I like "Dash One" manuals. I'm not an aviator, but give me the -1 manual for a B-17, access to a fueled up B-17, and I can get that bird off the ground and land it. That's the KISS fresh from basic training format.

For now I need to get back to dealing with someone who is somewhere in the genius range, very young, and explain why it's not cool to tell people certain things in certain ways.

Semper Praesto Servire

*** punkduck was kind enough to take the time to provide me with a Dash One. My heartfelt thanks, and my keyboard is happy to not have me banging my head on it any longer.
