Texture not found - but it's there!!

Postby jethro » Tue Apr 04, 2017 6:57 pm

Hello,

I am new to makehuman and I finally managed to create my first piece of clothing. It looks fine to me, but I am not able to convince makehuman to load the proper texture file despite the fact that it is saved in the same folder as all the clothing files. The first time I tried the texture file was not saved, and I found out that I should have used the option for making all the paths absolute. I did that and the texture file was correctly placed, but still it does not load. In order to create clothes I followed the workflow suggested in the youtube video by the user VScorpianC. The strange thing is that I have managed to reproduce her example correctly (including loading the texture) but doing the same with a different piece of clothing I get this problem. Does someone have an idea of what could have gone wrong and where I should look at?

Hi and thanks for the quick reply. In the mhmat file I see the diffuseTexture field with the filename of the texture file, which seems the correct one to me.

if my texture does not work right away i copy a texture and .mhmat file from a clothing that does work into the folder of my new clothing. in makehuman materials tab select the clothing name on the left and then on the right you should now see two texture options. the one you created and the one you copied. click the one you made first (sometimes if you set it up incorrectly in blender it will not show until you click the name) if that does not work now click the one you copied. if that texture shows up, change the name of the .png it is referenceing in the .mhmat to be the name of the clothing texture you created. if that works then the problem is in the .mhmat. if it does not work it may be a problem with your image being corrupt or the wrong size... hope this helps. this is maybe not the best way to test but its jsut how i do it

Thanks for the great suggestion! If I copy a mhmat file that works, and also copy the corresponding texture file, it works. If I replace the texture jpg with the one I want to use it does not work. Thus I think the problem is with the jpg file. Are there limitations regarding the file size?

Update. If I make my texture file smaller, everything works fine. Thus the problem has definitely something to do with the dimensions of the texture file.

Tthe skin texture is a 2048x2048 png which is likely the largest necessary also the png format is better as it has rbg and alpha channels while the jpg format is both lossy and limited to just rbg data .

Enjoy the Choice :)
