Yet Another License question - CC0 and exported hair

Postby jaimi » Thu Feb 02, 2017 10:23 pm

I work on an open source library for Unity called UMA (Unity Multipurpose Avatar).

Does the CC0 license allow exporting the characters, and using parts of those characters in other libraries? (For example, The Ears or Hair meshes). We're trying to improve the quality of the output, and looking for additional content with a permissive license.

The summary of CC0 is here: https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/

The core sentence is this: "You can copy, modify, distribute and perform the work, even for commercial purposes, all without asking permission."

Unless the author of a particular asset decides to change it all are CC0 have fun with them that info is part of the definition file's meta data and is usually part of it's description in the repo.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Note that some assets in the community repos are submitted under CC-BY, not CC0. The MH CC0 exception only applies to things which are pre-bundled with MH. If you include a CC-BY asset, you will have to mention the author of that asset in your end product.
