What version of MH contains the face rigs?

Postby efreet » Wed Jul 09, 2014 3:58 pm

I just saw this cool video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtycWqkvHeo
Has this become available already? If not yet for stable release, which version should I get?

Thank you in advance

Also, does anyone know about plans to add Shape Keys on face rigs?

Thanks

The new rigging fork contains the code for the new rigs, but it's unstable and prone to sudden change, which is why it is not yet included in the official unstable branch. You can find it in the rigging subproject on the issue tracker.
But it is source code, there is no binary build of it, so you will need to be able to run the source code.

Thank you for replying duststorm and for developing MakeHuman :)

I still would like to try the unstable version, but I don't see a branch named rigging or unstable. (all branches I can see are 'default' and 'stable') Is there some restriction, Or maybe I'm just lost because I'm not familiar with bitbucket. If there isn't a restriction, can someone please send me a link to where I can get the source code for rigging?

Also, to compile it, what libraries would I need?

Lastly just to confirm, is there no foreseeble plan to add blendershape (Shape Keys)?

I meant "fork"
Look in the issue tracker to have an overview of the entire project.

The face rig poses can be converted to blendshapes, if you require this in your pipeline.
But you will not get more quality from this.

I would generally use blendshapes to get that extra bit of detail, detail that is so specific to your mesh that it cannot be generically auto modeled. Like small wrinkles and skin effects.

Duststorm,

Did you mean https://bitbucket.org/MakeHuman/makehum ... ig-staging? I don't think I have access to MH's issue tracker (is it Jira, same Atlassian?), so I just searched for 'rigging' in the "owner/repository" and it was 17th on the list. (there was also https://bitbucket.org/MakeHuman/makehuman-rigging to add to confusion) Anyway, thank you.
EDIT: Actually, the issue tracker is here -> http://bugtracker.makehuman.org/projects/makehuman

For my pipeline, btw, I'll just convert to blendshapes manually as you advised. Expert tips are helpful.

I also found another video of MakeHuman that used face rigs, but this one is old. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IczhdEDg-ok

Did this face rig become obsolete because of the new one, or am I just doing something wrong? I don't see the face bones or MHX Expression or MHX LipSync menus in my model, like in this video.

Either that one or the one on Thomas' bitbucket account, yes.

Exactly

I believe the new MHX importer tools already have the buttons for that.

Ok, so to summarize

Forks with face rig in it:
https://bitbucket.org/MakeHuman/makehuman-newrig-staging
https://bitbucket.org/ThomasMakeHuman/newrig
https://bitbucket.org/MakeHuman/makehuman-rigging <<-- not being worked on

Issue Tracker:
http://bugtracker.makehuman.org/projects/makehuman

Dustorm, can you answer my next question?

and thanks for the tip on the MHX importer. I didn't know it existed. I'll look. This will save me a lot of time.

That video is the A7 mesh (HM07), so yes, it's of an old version of MakeHuman.

We are working on a new and better rig, with better expressions that actually fit all head types that MakeHuman produces.
