By way of an introduction

Postby Stoat » Fri May 16, 2014 1:06 pm

I've just discovered make human and it's just what I need for a game I'm working on but this image is for a mate of mine who wants to do the Robert Palmer, "addicted to love" video.

Ah, first things first, I have to do a load of uv mapping, in order to bake the room. Then think about how to do the girl as five girls. The video has girls who all look alike. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcATvu5f9vE&feature=kp

I've now got the girl as one mesh and I've uv'D her and painted in her dress again. So I started on the job of rigging her. I'd forgotten how much of a world of pain rigging can be. :( I did try to use the imported skeleton but I just got into a mess trying to get it to fit, so started anew.

Very interesting indeed. Since it's one of my favorite songs by Robert Palmer (rip), can't wait to see the final result when you're done.

My favourite tracks are a bit of a toss up, between Johnny and Mary, and She makes my day.

if you watch the video of addicted to love on youtube, a lot of it is just two girls, head and shoulder shots, swaying back and forth behind Robert Palmer. Well, that's a lot of the work done for me. The rest, I need five copies of the same model, with different props.

My first attempt at a rig, not so good. It binds okay and the legs ik chain is good but the arms were total pigs to get right. I need to add an "ulna" bone and probably more bones for the hand. Although it should be pretty obvious that the girls are not actually playing the guitars.

My mate, who is going to be doing the song; and he's very good but looks nothing like Robert Palmer; will probably insist that the girls have their hands in the right fret place at least. So I need to think about having a target null that can slide up and down the guitar necks and take the hand ik goal with it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcATvu5f9vE&feature=kp

Here's an image of the first go and moving her bones. Those tow dots in the image are her eyeballs, I forgot to add them to the null before I moved her over. :) The arms as I've said are hopeless but it is getting there, slowly but surely.
