Dark Dragon - Fighting game using MH models

Postby Dimis » Thu Apr 24, 2014 7:59 pm

Hello

I am a new member of this community. I wanted to share my work with you. I have been making a 3D fighting game for a long time now and I have been using MakeHuman software to build my characters. I don't know much about character modeling, so once I discovered MH, I found the ideal solution.

Here are some random game screenshots from my game. I am using the Alpha 6 mesh (optimized enough to work with shaders). I will improve whatever I can, but right now those models are good enough for a demo.

and this is the latest gameplay video. the recording is bad and it lacks audio, but I will upload something in better quality.

Wow, that is really cool! :)
Do you have a blog or website where we can follow the progress or read more about it?

I'm curious as to how you did the animation. Did you hand animate the characters or are you using some hybrid approach using mocap data? The animation looks pretty smooth, I can imagine getting this right, together with controls, is one of the hardest things to get right in this type of game.

Thanks! Everything is animated in Poser, by hand. This is a very long work in progress. I think I began to work on this game almost 4 years ago, long before I started using MH models. Every animation in the game was done, scrapped and done all over again, several times. Setting up the controls was not that hard, setting up gameplay with smooth animation blending was harder. And still, I am not done with gameplay, I am toying around with timing to balance the gameplay, mostly when playing against the game's AI. Actually the hardest thing to do was work with my current development software (Dark Basic Pro), hopefully I will take the game to Unity 3D.

Now I don't have a web site, just a facebook page and my youtube channel, where I have more, but older videos. And the facebook page isn't updated often, I never find the time to do it, since making the game practically uses all my free time, I should find the time to make a site.

Many thanks! :)
Here's the link to my FB page, but there isn't anything going on there, I don't update it often. I have 2-3 videos there.

This is my latest gameplay video, it is not in very good quality. I will record something better this weekend.

You can check my channel, I have plenty more videos from earlier stages of development, among other fan made stuff I have been making.
