We're maiing right now on the dev mailing list on how to best stamp the release. Idea is to have a release candidate tomorrow, and if no-one cries tears of blood after testing it, we'll release it as official alpha 8 a few days later.

Yet unofficial: http://download.tuxfamily.org/makehuman ... pha.8.rc1/

There are some issues to sort out, which means one or several of the binaries might have to be rebuilt. This said, the binaries here work on all my test platforms.

Ok, we won't announce release candidate 1 officially. There was a brain fart in the packaging which might in fringe cases hide serious bugs, so there's no use asking users to stress test it.

(but as said above: the RC1 works perfectly for me on all the test platforms I've run it on, so it's not like it'll eat your computer if you want to try it)

We'll be back with an RC2 today or the next few days.

The ones at http://download.tuxfamily.org/makehuman/releases/ appear to be working well, from what I heard and could test myself.
An OSX package got added minutes ago, I hope to hear feedback from OSX users.

They will require some weeks of hard labour,in order to produce high quality textures and models.
Using special filters, I'm extracting pores and wrinkles from HR photos, elaborating them in a 3d pipeline (that includes manual sculpting to refine low definition zones) and building an accurate high frequency map for average body skin.
In the same time, I'm working on some filters to extract skin tones and subdermal informations.
And of course, I'm modelling the objects for new alpha8 library.

Yet again, another old topic, but I really would like a tutorial on this. It would be a great use of details to my comic project.

hi for the past 4 month or so I've been experimenting with the unstable nightly editions default armature.
I have made some pretty cool additions/improvements to the armature and at the same time adding bones the female genitalia topology.
but the improvements allow the model to still be shapeable even in environments that don't support shape key morphs.
I've been testing the rig in xnalara which is purely armature driven plus xnalara has a large deviantart following so I've
been able to get feedback from many users. ive tested it with makehuman geometry and replaced the existing armature of
a various number of models even rigged a few daz3d genius/genius2 models with it.
and the results I have gotten are grater than I ever expected and the feed back from users is outstanding.
the rig gives models insane flexibility to the point of a contortionist pulling off poses that until now have never been possible
all while retaining some ability to change and shape the model body. and I find that it is way easier to add it to and weight models than it is more traditional armature setups. I have used a lot of 3d modeling programs and have seen nothing like it
except the MH unstable nightly editions default armature of coarse. but as far as I can tell I think it might be the greatest armature in existence, so much so that I felt I had to name it I call it "the flex armature"
but I would love to see it gain a place in the makehuman armature options. I will send a rigged model if interested

Sure I'm interested to see what is being done with MakeHuman!
Perhaps you can link us to the communities where this is being discussed?
