Coverting clothes in *.obj format to .mhclo?

Postby SaltyCowdawg » Thu Nov 14, 2013 6:07 pm

I have a bunch of clothing in *.obj format that I'd like to possibly use with MakeHuman characters. Is there a way to convert them?

I'm especially keen on getting them to "work" when the character is posed...

You can use the MakeClothes blender plugin.

I mis-spoke... I have a bunch of *.3ds files....

The issue I'm running into can be described as such

1) I load the .3ds file (I'll attach one here) into blender.
2) I load a nekkid human
here's where the prolblem begins
I can't pose the human and the position of the shoes (in this case) does not match the position of the feet
plus
the angle the foot needs to be does not fit the shoe.

pressing on anyway I get an error "two pieces of clothing selected" which is why I'm attaching the 3ds file.

For clothes, you should load the human with helpers.
Clothes need to be modeled and fitted to the rest pose of the human, so you need to do some modeling.

Join all your meshes that belong to the same piece of clothing into one object. In object mode, press A to be sure all is deselected, select only the human, and shift select your piece of clothing, then press "MakeClothes"

Oh yes, there is still a bug in MakeClothes, you can only use the meshes you create using the makeClothes panel buttons.
I created a bug report about it to make sure that this gets fixed.
