ETA on production ready (most functions work) Alpha 8?

Postby Rhynedahll » Fri Oct 11, 2013 6:01 pm

I've been watching the work on A8 on a daily basis, and I want to laud all the contributors for their dedicated work.
(I'm not a python programmer or a proficient artist, so I remain just a spectator.)

I try out the A8 svn from time to time and see that the function of many controls has not yet been re-implemented.
I have the impression that this is due to the lack of artists to create the targets.

Based on an a purely empirical observation of the rate of progress, I would think that A8 will take at least another year.

I know that it will be done when it's done, but is there any ballpark ETA?

You said Alpha 1.08 would be done by end of 2013. We are almost there. My question is... 1.07 Alpha worked great for OpenSim Import without the need for blender, will that be a feature in 1.08 Alpha as well ? I hope so :)

Yes, we are near the release.
In meantime, you can test alpha8 with opensim, using nighlty builds:

Noone currently on the development team tests for OpenSim compatibility. Which means that people using OpenSim will have to test it, and report a bug if it does not work. The quality of OpenSim support currently is entirely up to the feedback we get from OpenSim users.

For clarity, I branched the rest of the discussion about SL/opensim rigs to another thread.
