Compiling from Source

Postby xeen3d » Sat Jun 23, 2012 9:42 pm

Hi
i try to compile a OSx version from Source, i check out a OSx trunk and try to compile that Trunk but i get some Errors.
First of all is that the Xcode Project File was from a Old Xcode Version second one is that are Errors in Source and missing Files or
Files are on other position in Source tree than in Code .

So i have a few Questions,
How did you compile the OSx Version ?
Why are so Old Developer Tools are used ? (Xcode Leopard)
Is someone here fit enough in OSx development that i can get some Help about the compiler Errors ?

I don´t post the Errors here in this first Post i see in Source Tree that the Trunk is not touched since 04/2012 that is
same than last Nightly Build thats is it why NB is so old there is no newer version.(I asked about that in other Post).

So if i get a little bit help from someone of the developers i try to clean the Xcode Project File and bring it to latests
Development Tools (Xcode 4.3x) but aim not a developer i need some help for that.

If someone here is fit enough in Objective C to fix some errors with me i am very happy to hear from him or her.

best

Andre

We're a bit thin on people with osx competence as well as build servers right now. The main maintainer stepped down a while back and we're hobbling along as well as we're able to, with borrowed time on a mac machine at someone's employer. That's the nature of volunteer projects: They need volunteers.

I manage the windows and linux builds, but I have absolutely no clue on how to work with the osx build. Nor have I any machine to test on.

This said, I've mentioned your last post (about the nightly not getting updated) on the IRC channel, and with some luck someone will go kick the build machine or at least see what happened with it.

Joe mind flipping me a set of links to the most current build instructions for each platform??

btw is the OSX version close enough to the Linux Version that a cross compile could be possible??

Hi Joepal ans all others

thanks for your answers, i understand now where the Problem is .

I am not the Objective C Guru that i can do anything in the Code, i can compile it and repair some
Dependencies but if i get els ware errors i am not the right man who can fix that.

i be very surprised that on a Project like make Human with that great potential is no active OSx development as i asked my question in this tread
i am sure that in the project are OSx developers.
I go to Holliday's now for tree Weeks after that i can give Remote access to a bigger Mac Pro Server with actual Developer Tools installed, i can´t develop self but
i can give some resources to the developers like remote access to a development machine that´s not much but better than no OSx system.

Il be back in tree weeks from tomorrow but i read Mails and take a look her some time, let it me know if remote access to a OSx machine is a resource that
can be used or not

best

Questions about building are answered under the "installation" category in the FAQ http://www.makehuman.org/faq or more specifically in http://www.makehuman.org/node/378
