So, is this a way for animating a human on makehuman?

All the animation is done within blender so the first order of business is to export your character to blender then there are several ways to go create all the keyframes and motion your self or use use a bvh file(motion capture file format) in conjunction with makewalk(which applies the bvh to the character) then you may still need to clean up the motions as it's not perfect.

You can load the bvh directly inside blender and manually retarget the bones from the bvh file to your characters' bones.

The last version of Makewalk for blender 2.8 as it is now only need a few upgrade to work.
Upgrading the code to 2.8 is easy(it's just 1 line), but the exported animation by makewalk makes the character cross his leg.
I don't know enough about blender api to look for where is the mistake.

How to find Makewalk extentesion to download it?

No need for makewalk to download assets just right click and "Save as" that is if you are not using Edge or Safari there is no animation data involved just a mesh that is fitted to the feet of your character while the foot pose adjusts the position of the ankles so the heels are on the ground makewalk is a blender plug-in it does not work in makehuman you can also use the asset download plug-in for makehuman it ships with the latest version it's on the Community tab of makehuman.
