Blender and Makehuman projects

I believe that originally Makehuman was a blender script?-correct me if I'm wrong.
How has the collaboration been between the 2 projects? Surprisingly I don't see a lot on the blender site about
Makehuman- it seems odd. I would think the 2 projects would be closely aligned. I know that there has been
a lot confusion in the past about what mhx version to to use with blender, and that during blenders big
move from 2.4 to 2.5 and beyond there was a lot of python coding issues between the projects- I think mostly
initiated from the blender side but who knows I wasn't behind the senes- just a user.

Anybody have any thoughts on this?

The blender version of makehuman is two, or possibly three, generations behind what is makehuman today. It was decided that it was infeasible to implement a complex piece of software in an API that was (and partly is) changing around so wildly between releases, so the blender implementation was abandoned.

The blender makehuman was in its turn built on an earlier blender code "MakeHead", which only modeled faces.

But if you look closely at the crew lists and credits, you might notice the name "manuel" in all the various incarnations.

This might interest you, although it only reaches as far back as from the decision to move away from the blender implementation (we might add the older stuff later some time) : http://archive.makehuman.org/

If someone is sneakily still working on the blender branch, then that's more than I know anything about.

(and me, I haven't been around in the project longer than since 2007, so I might have gotten some of the more ancient details wrong)
