Export Model above Floor Plane / adjust Y coordinates

Postby 3DNewb » Tue Nov 05, 2013 12:59 am

Hello,

When I try to work with a make human model in another program like Marvelous Designer, the imported MH model .obj is below the floor plane for that particular program. I can manually move the model above the floor plane in Marvelous Designer, but that method is not great for working with dozens of avatars and yields inconsistent results.

I need to work with .obj for this particular project.

Is there a setting somewhere to adjust the Y coordinates when I export the model? Thank you.

Try the 'feet on ground' option, if that is not already the default for the exporter.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure where I can find the "Feet on ground" option. Is this available in the nightly build, alpha 7 or both? Thanks!

I'm talking about the nightly.
Well, it appears that Thomas has removed all 'feet on ground' options, except for the MHX export.
I assume that it defaults to feet on ground now for all other exporters.

Okay, well it appears to be below the floor plane when exported in Marvelous Designer. Do you know of another way to adjust the y-coordinates in MH or in another program like Blender in a simple manner? Thank you.

Full-disclosure--I'm not so great with Blender so the simpler the better.

In object mode, select mesh with right click.
Tab into edit mode.
Press A to select all vertices.
Press G for grab, then press Z (or Y, depending on what the up axis is) to lock the axis, and move the object.
At this point you can also enter offset values using the numpad, instead of using mouse.
Press enter to confirm.

Do the same for the skeleton, making sure that you move it by the same offset (also in edit mode, which will move the bones instead of vertices)
