How do you render in Cycles?

Postby swaschan » Sat Oct 27, 2012 7:09 pm

It's been a month since I;ve started using Makehuman, and first of all, it is very impressive. However, I do not know how to render a human or uvmap a human correctly in Cycles, and am in a bit of a muddle, as we all know that Cycles is very cool indeed, and that I'm hoping to do quite some scenes in Cycles with my human (and goblin :p) characters. If anyone could help me out of this mess, I would appreciate it very much indeed....

Regards

P.S (I'll post pics of my model in BI pretty darn soon)
And I apologize for my negligence if this has been posted somewhere else in this forum, and I have not read it.. :?

Basically, to do the actual render, all you have to do is switch render engine.

Unfortunately, this invalidates all materials and all light sources. To get a light source, add a plane somewhere and assign the "Emission BSDF" material to it. A strength of 10 or so is good if it's reasonably close. A large plane will also be a stronger light source than a small plane.

The textures should work in cycles too, but you need to set them up using nodes.

Here's a thread about skins without textures: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2634

Here are some more tips: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2749&p=10621&hilit=cycles#p10611

This is my node setup for a skin *with* a texture. The textures exported together with MHX work right off, you don't need to do anything special apart from adding it as a "image texture" node.
