Broken interface, manjaro linux, AUR

Postby ChemoProphet » Wed Jun 14, 2023 5:32 pm

I have just installed MakeHuamn on my Linux system, and have a broken interface on startup - the space where the human should be is either black, shows through to the desktop, or otherwise shows glitchy behavior, and no human.

I tried following the steps directions provided in the FAQ: http://www.makehumancommunity.org/wiki/ ... oks_broken
no fix

I am using version 1.2.0-7, which I obtained from the arch user repository

I am running Manjaro Linux x86_64, Kernal: 6.1.31-2-MANJARO

My system has an intel pentium gold with integrated graphics (Intel CoffeeLake-S GT1 [UHD Graphics 610]), and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Mobile

Here are the contents of my makehuman.log:
https://pastebin.com/phA74H4y

And here are the contents of my makehuman-debug.txt:
https://pastebin.com/fLv3nzQV

Any help or advice would be greatly appriciated

Parts of this is likely fixed in the latest version from github. Your best bet is running from source rather than using a binary build. This is pretty easy on linux. The basic steps are outlined in https://github.com/makehumancommunity/m ... /README.md

Thank you very much for your reply.

I have uninstalled the version I built from the AUR, and followed the instructions in the link provided as closely as I can (I did, of course, need to substitute apt install for pacman -S, because I'm on an arch-based distro)

Makehuamn does launch when I run either the shell or python scripts. The viewport issue, however, persists, even after disabling shaders and sample buffers.

I see from the logs that makehuman runs on the intel graphics card. Embedded graphics have a tendency to be somewhat more shaky than the discreet ones for the ancient opengl version MH uses. I have no idea to achieve this in manjaro, but is there a way you could launch MH on the nvidia chipset instead and see if that works better?
