However, I need to find programs to replace the ones I have. Which brings me here - I've work with Poser for a little over 15 years, starting with ver. 4. Is makehuman compatible with Poser content files?
First, Makehuman is designed for output; the only input possibility is MakeTarget. It may be possible to create proxies that will work in the Makehuman system, but I would suggest doing vertex comparisons of your Poser figures with Makehuman figures but cross-referencing Wavefront .obj files, in a program such as Blender.
It might turn out that the Poser body mesh is more trouble than it is worth, but that clothing and hair can be ported into Makehuman as user contributions. Since Poser is commercial and proprietary, you would need some sort of audit trail to demonstration that all the clothing, hair and accessories are your original designs.
In short, you will probably be spending more time in Blender than in Makehuman to complete your work.
