If you use PortableApps, you probably already know that PortableApps.com has finished packaging Blender 2.78 as a PortableApp. If not it can be found at: http://portableapps.com/apps/graphics_pictures/blender_portable

You should note the caution about portability, there:

Portability Note: Due to a bug in Blender, temporary files created during rendering are created in C:\tmp. When run on a standard account on many computers, the files can not be created. When run on an admin account, they are created but will be cleaned up by the launcher on exit (with any pre-existing files preserved).

I'm still working primarily with Win XP and Blender 2.76b, so didn't notice if this effected Blender 2.77a. If you are concerned about upgrading, you can install a separate copy of 2.78. For general instructions on installing a separate copy see May I have more at http://portable3d.tiddlyspot.com.

PortableApps Platform Security Update

This is not specifically about MakeHuman Portable, but is about the PortableApps Platform. If you use the Platform and have not checked for updates recently you should be aware of a potential security problem.

Brief quotes on the problem:

"Over the past few days, Wikileaks posted a series of documents purported to be from the CIA in a dump of files dubbed "Vault 7". Within those documents are references to a project called "Fine Dining" which details how a field agent can alter their own software on a portable device to include additional functionality to enable spying and other covert activities while appearing innocuous to those who happen to see the agent using their portable software."

"The list of affected software includes VLC Player Portable, Irfan View, Chrome, Opera, Firefox, ClamWin, Kaspersky TDSS Killer, McAfee Stinger, Sophos Virus Removal Tool, Thunderbird, Opera Mail, Foxit Reader, LibreOffice, Prezi, BabelPad, Notepad++, Skype, Iperius Backup, Sandisk Secure Access, U3 Software, 2048, LBreakout2, 7-Zip Portable and Portable Linux CMD Prompt. Some PortableApps.com Launchers are also affected by these techniques."
