One of things that is hardest to learn is to predict where cloth will fold in your 3d mesh. You will need to plan for diagonal quads in the armpit and groin, especially.
That is because most 3d programs will try to lay out your cloth model on a XYZ grid, and that's what you don't want. ( Blender will do this every time you smooth the mesh.)
Marvelous Designer can't do this yet, either, so it's a frontier for everyone.
If you do some screenshots of the clothes you are developing, that would help.
