makehuman to 3ds max import problems

Sorry if this may be a stupid question, but i am fairly new to the world of 3d and am having some problems importing the makehuman .obj files into autodesk 3ds max. I export them as .obj files and then I open 3d max. I can import the proxy.obj file just fine, but if i try to import the regular .obj file the program crashes. Is this just my computer or am i doing something wrong? i didn't know if it was because of the filetype or how i was exporting it or if it was just too high of a polygon count or whatever reason. Any thoughts or advice?
