Orange stripes on imported items

Postby Thomas_Ray » Wed May 10, 2017 2:21 am

Well, I finally have been able to import clothing, and hair from the user contributed assets. I just had to switch my browser to Chrome-----I have imported ALL the files, but the hair and clothing have these orange stripes on them---as if the texture file is not working. What's wrong and how do I fix it?---Thanks for the help.

That is indeed the likely cause. Check your .mhmat and .mhclo files. The latter should have a material entry that points at the former and the former should have a diffuseTexture line that points at your texture image.

It most likely is an issue with the path line in the .mhmat files as that is the file that defines materials(textures) where have you put the files you downloaded they should be at "Documents\makehuman\v1\data\clothes each piece of clothing/hair in it's own folder with the appropriate name the full workflow can be found here http://www.makehumancommunity.org/wiki/ ... ll_them%3F if you have further problems please post and we will hopefully be able to help.

THAT is what I have done----A sub folder for each piece of clothing under clothing. I saved each file, (obj, mhmat, etc.) one at a time at it's location . It looks like everything is in place when I open the folder.---I get the clothing article fine on my model---but there are those orange stripes. I even tried this on another computer with an older Makehuman verson, to eleminate the possibility i might have TWO MH copies in my new upload (and loading the files into the wrong one) STILL, I get the stripes. Should I have uploaded ALL the files into an empty space and then into its folder at once?

Did you download the image textures, too? Normally an asset consists of a mhclo, obj, mhmat, thumb and one or more image textures. So, usually at least 5 files. All these files should go into the same folder.

YAY! I GOT IT---it seems you have to also enter those "optional texture" pictures, etc too.---I did that and my clothing looks like it supposed to now.

Glad you got it working BTW there is a community plug-in that accesses our online repo from with in MH downloads all the right files and puts them in the right place ;) https://github.com/makehumancommunity/community-plugins the install instructions are there as well.

Perhaps the term 'optional textures' is a little unfortunately chosen. It's optional for the submitter (you can create materials without textures), but when optional textures exists, they should be downloaded, too, otherwise the material will not work properly.

There's also a Material Editor utility that lets you change textures/shaders, or fix missing ones, from inside MH. Enable it by going to Settings  Plugins  check on 7_material_editor in the list. Close and re-open MH and it will show up under the Utilities tab.
