How to make a model for Unreal 4?

Postby Unit23 » Fri Mar 13, 2015 2:21 pm

Just downloaded and installed the latest Windows build, went and set settings for UEngine and exported fbx. After this i imported the file straight into Unreal. However, the result is kind of all over the place, not really looking like a human. Then i looked into the tutorial section and searched the forum for Unreal 4, but couldn't find anything particular related to exporting and Unreal.

Could someone please point me to the recommended how to or tutorial for porting to Unreal 4 and U4E development? Btw. Found you yesterday via a forum post over at Unrealengine.com, then i saw some of the results people posted here and watched a beginner tutorial on YouTube, and all i can say this software is simply stunning. Thanks for providing it for free.

If you tried using FBX, the exploded body is because the FBX exporter is broken in MH right now.

But FBX seems to way to go otherwise, according to what I can find on google.

https://docs.unrealengine.com/latest/IN ... index.html

At the moment you'll have to first export to Blender (for example with the Collada format) and then export it to FBX from there.

Collada does not seem to be supported by UE4.

Thanks Joepal, this seems to work, also with fbx. Will check later for the animation stuff and how to add clothes.

Is this broken in latest unstable build as well (because I am downloading it right now)?

Use ASCII FBX export (uncheck binary), that should work.
Binary FBX is a new and very experimetal feature. I'm not sure it will even make it into 1.1 release.
