Clothing- Separate or integral?

Postby patmat2350 » Thu Jan 22, 2015 3:09 am

Hello, complete noobie here, just starting to read through the clothing tutorials. But to make sure I'm heading in the right direction, a quick question please:

I want to make static figures for 3D printing. Loose or layered clothing won't make for a printable .stl... so, is it best to model clothing directly from the human's skin? Or is it just as well to put a shrink wrap over the loose clothing and human?

TIA, Pat M

Which is best is hard to say, but the clothing exported from MH is (usually) hanging a short distance outside the skin. Pieces of clothing are always separate meshes.

Probably the best approach would be using MH's face hiding feature (default on) and then poisson remeshing the exported result to close the holes and make a watertight mesh.
