Skyrim body models

Postby anahuj » Wed Jun 11, 2014 9:50 am

Hello. A few image links related to Skyrim game at bottom. I tested MakeHuman
and the human model was poor. I could not get what is seen in Skyrim mods, and
the female/male transition was odd.

The game modders have released a few body models. I can dig more if you wish.
It would be nice if MakeHuman model could be fitted to those body models.

Saying "it is poor" is putting it a bit bluntly.
What you probably mean is that by default MakeHuman does not give you the type of (subjectively) idealized bodies that Skyrim mod creators are modeling.
The textures we currently have also have tiny defects and imperfections, as opposed to the perfectly smooth, make-up like, skin textures on the Skyrim models. (something we want to add in the future though)

MakeHuman primarily aims at producing more realistic results, instead of exaggerated cartoon-esque game characters.
However, that does not mean that MakeHuman is not capable of producing such meshes.

MakeHuman offers alternative topologies that make it possible to model details specific to certain body types. One topology for such idealized characters is in the making: http://bugtracker.makehuman.org/issues/336
More types of topologies will be announced soon.

Textures have a large impact on how a mesh is perceived. If you paint the right type of texture, you can make your mesh look any way you want. The attractiveness, apart from the forms, comes mainly from the texture.

Lastly, if your goal is to create original game characters, you should not see the MH mesh as the final result. Import it into a modeling tool and bring in your own changes and accents that make it an original and recognizable character. In this aspect, MakeHuman can be a very useful tool to modelers. There's a few very useful topologies available that can save a lot of work.

MakeHuman can easily create this kind of bodies.
We will add a shortcut for them as soon as a new feature (body templates) will be ready.
The real problem is the lack of sexy clothes, sexy hair and sexy skins. We will work on them, but they require time.

and the female/male transition was odd.

Ehm..the transition between female and male is "odd", of course.
There is a "non odd" way to modify a male in a female and viceversa?

MakeHuman is especially for me to have a base of a 3D character and not to create a full character in the software! (Hair, clothes ...)

You can have the best result with MakeHuman compared to Skyrim, if you use MakeHuman with 3D software! :)
