Mac Version Nightly Build Blinking is Working Now

Postby scottfredeman » Thu Mar 31, 2011 7:18 pm

Hello everyone!

I just downloaded the latest Blender 2.57 that was announced today and used an export from the latest Makehuman NIghtly Build for Mac OSX and Blinking is working now.
Can someone review the images attached here and let me know if the Arm jont looks correct. Thomas mentioned that there was a problem with it and it should be fixed here.

Thanks,
Scott

The arms look fine - or at least as good as it gets. No blinking and shoulder collapse were due to the same bug, so either both or none are ok.

Ok Great - now I can Use it in Production now.

Not sure what improvements you will be making but its a very powerful tool now.

More exaggerated editing of facial features would be a great addition to produce Stylized Cute Charcters and not Aliens.

If you add that let me know.

Thank you

Please keep us informed about your progress. It is exciting to see this tool being used in production.

By exaggerated editing, do you mean that the value sliders should have a larger range than [0,1], say [-1,2]. That is easy to fix in python, but it will also allow you to make some really ugly faces. But if it requires new shapekeys, it is only the artist who can do that.

Hi Thomas,

I will definitely keep you informed.
I don't know how possible this is but the type of faces I am looking for to create are attached to this post.
The Movie Tangled has very Cute Awesome looking Stylized Faces that would be fantastic to create easily in Makehuman with a fast slider.
Then change them to other types of faces similar to the Incredibles. Maybe I am asking for too Much :-)

Thanks
Scott

This kind of faces is not available yet.
We are working on a tool for non photo-realistic characters (anime, toon, etc..) but it require time and, much more, skilled artists, that are hard to find as free contributors.
We are looking for a way to make development more quick, but we first need to reach 1.0 stable.

Best,

Manuel

Thank you for the Update Manuel !

If you guys can pull that off, it would be awesome.
Seems like it would be easier than making Realistic Humans.
Seems easy to get ugly toon style characters but making them Really Cute is tough.

Thanks

It appear easy, but professional characters (Pixar style, for example) require very skilled artists, hard to find.
However it's planned, and the code is partially designed.

Hi Manuel,

I just noticed that if you can make the eyeballs bigger with a slider we will be getting a lot closer since most Toon styles have a lot bigger eyeballs and eye sockets.
The lips and nose shapes are pretty much the same as we have now. Just some nice changes to the Eye Ball sizes and Eye Sockets.

Thanks
