Very simple text-based RPG

Postby lochy » Fri Feb 02, 2024 7:27 am

I have no experience with programming languages (i played around with action script in flash when i was younger).

I want to make a simple text-based rpg game with a lot of stats that are increased via behind-the-scenes dice rolling (1d3, 1d6 ect) mainly to goof my friends.

is there a software that could help me make a simple game like this with minimal (ideally zero) programming?

i am actually interested in making a larger serious turn-based tactical RPG at some point, but i think making something small, quick, dumb would be really fun.

iv looked at things like Ren'Py and Twine. Twine looks like it isn't the right tool, i would like to do silly things like if an enemie's defense is 100 to roll 100 zero and one sided dice, add the result and use that as damage negation. i bet that would be hard to program in twine, lol.

any help/advice would be appreciated. thank you in advance!
