Blender 4.x (I'm running 4.2) and MakeHuman

Discussions about MakeHuman, Blender and MPFB. It is ok to ask for general Blender support here, even if it isn't directly related to MakeHuman

Blender 4.x (I'm running 4.2) and MakeHuman

Postby SaltyCowdawg » Tue Mar 19, 2024 7:23 pm

Been having loads of issues with MPFB with Blender 4 and with Blender 4,2 speificly but haen't yet been collection error messages so I owe that going forward. That said not all the assett packs download so I figure teething pains

More importantly: I've been trying to add hair to MH models using the new geonodes basd hair system with very little success and wondered if som of the better artists out there have had any luck with it?

Keeping this short given I now single finger type due to losing muscles that allowed me to touch type in the past...

I'll be very interested in hearing what problems you run into with mpfb and blender 4. I've tried to make sure things work with 4,0 and 4.1, but I haven't gotten around to 4.2 yet.

Hit import I find this message

An unhandled exception was encountered: 1-2 args execution context is supported. See console or log for information to provide in error report.

and she lost her clothes on the trip!

My second attempt involved importing a basic very minimal adjustments in modeling female and there was no issue... add a skeleton and instant issue but no clothes to lose!:-D

So I ditch the skeloton and add clothes, but now how do I apply a pose?

Seems you hit this bug: https://github.com/makehumancommunity/mpfb2/issues/177

I think that if you download a new build, the import pipeline from MH should be working again.

If you have upgraded blender but kept addons at some points, this FAQ item might be worth visiting too: http://static.makehumancommunity.org/mp ... rsion.html

WHAT I ended up doing is deleting all references to 4,x in .config/blender and trying again. Something was interfering because it is working now...

With that said how can I get mpfb to use MH poses?

You can't, not in blender. BVH-style poses haven't been ported yet.

If you need a BVH-style pose, you'll need to set it in MakeHuman and create the character "from makehuman" in blender. But then you'll lose some of the functionality you have access to if creating the character in mpfb or opening it from MHM.
