Textures in Blender without any color

Hello everyone,

Let me preface my probably super-basic question by saying that I am a total newbie to MakeHuman / MPFB2 / Blender, and I am using it to create avatars for Unity to use in a VR research project. I promise I have read the FAQ and was following the tutorials, but I run into an issue that is not existent in the tutorial videos.

Everything is ok and the same as in the tutorial videos up to the point when it's time to apply the skin / hair / clothes etc. When I add the skin, it doesn't look anything like in the tutorial. You can tell something loaded, but it doesn't look like human skin. The problem persists for every other added part - the clothes have no colors (even though in the Material window it seems like the right texture is loaded), the eyeball has no color etc. The problem is there whether I create a new human from scratch in Blender, or import it via the socket server from MakeHuman. I have tried both Mac and Windows, to the same effect.

When I add the skin, it doesn't look anything like in the tutorial. You can tell something loaded, but it doesn't look like human skin.
