Restored tutorials for MakeClothes

Postby joepal » Thu May 26, 2016 1:11 pm

I've been working intensely with getting the documentation back to its former glory. Today I restored three verbose tutorials for MakeClothes, which I think might be valuable for anyone wanting to make special clothes. Particular the tutorial on how to make stiff vertex group might come in handy.

Ah, thanks a lot, it were the vertex-groups I was looking for.

Indeed, thanks Loki. Perhaps we should add some information about the rigid group " *GroupName ". And I think there is no scale correction anymore.

Additions are very welcome in all parts of the docs.

Anyway, is there anything else someone can remember which has got lost in the switch to the wiki? I currently have the old site up in a virtual machine and keep digging in the database.

But I don't have write access to all parts of the documentation. E.g. I wanted to add some hints how to uninstall MakeHuman, which of course we do not recommend. However, good software should have informations how to get rid of it. It is not possible to edit the main page of the FAQ to me.

I protected some of the key index pages (specifically the FAQ and the front) to battle real-person spammers. I think we're only speaking about three or four pages in total though. No specific non-index page should be protected.

But as the non-bot spammers have so far focused mainly on polluting the asset repos and have so far not been that active in the wiki, I now lifted the protection of the FAQ page and the doc index.

Say if there is any other page you find which you need access to.

Ok, created the uninstall. But a have some questions:
Windows: Does qt/python/makehuman create temp-files in the system?
Linux: We don't have rpms, do we?
Mac: I don't have the slightest clue, how packages are handled here (need help to write this section)

Not to my knowledge, no.

Yes and no. There is a much neglected (redhat) rpm build routine in https://bitbucket.org/MakeHuman/makehum ... at=default. I think there are still redhat RPMs around for 1.0.2 somewhere.

For SuSE there are RPMs in a central repo somewhere somehow. I pretty much assume these are for 1.0.2 too. However, I have absolutely no clue about SuSE.

I'm planning to make redhat RPMs for 1.1.0 within the foreseeable future, but I'm not there yet.

I think DMG files are pretty much self-contained. If you drag the icon to the trash can, there shouldn't be much left. But I don't have any mac to test with.

Well, added the last informations. I think the uninstall section for Linux user is superfluous, anyway. Not happy with the layout. But it should do. So, someone still needs to write the Mac section.
