Summer Breeze

Postby N.O.A. » Tue May 05, 2015 11:16 am

Hey guys, I'm back!
So here's some finished stuff I did besides working on "Ivy"
model1_final.png

rendered with cycles with an hdri as background and edited (a lot  ) with photoshop
as you can see here in the raw render:
model1lowres.jpg

it was a bit more noisy, some weird deformations, weird hair and skin (how do you properly put a spec map for skin :?: ) .... I'm still gonna work on that

well the end of summer is almost coming for me :o and I haven't made a lot of renders yet
but it's still a month, so I'll probably make more renders with this model (she has no name yet though)

hope you like it!

Nice model. I think the skin is a bit too glossy and generally too perfect to be true, but this is extremely difficult to avoid. I experimented with this setup to create the surface details of skin. Image

Thanks for sharing! I'll try that, too... some other time... it looks a bit complex for me XD

anyways, here's another render:
model2rawlowres.jpg

I finally learned how to put the spec map and bump map correctly! YAY! (buuut the texture itself is not that perfect  )
actually, I don't really know if the bump map is working correctly because of the amount of noise lol
and this took about 9 HOURS to finish because of my ancient laptop... oh well... if only I have a faster one, then I could render everyday (even test renders are slow with my laptop) ... I was actually planning another render that's the same theme with the first one... it's going good and about to finish.... then blender decided to shut itself... and i was like WTF

oh well... here's some post-pro with photoshop so that it'll look better

hope ya like it :D

Great. BTW: Using a voronoi texture to create skin details wasn't my idea at all. If you're looking for inspiration, http://www.blendswap.com/blends/view/67519 might be interesting. This masterpiece was done using only procedural textures. I learned a lot from this file.

Hi,

Love your renders. You are using similar 2d effects as me (vignette, etc). Try doing that effect with blender composite nodes, very easy. I use a mask (oval) and blur it, and multiply end result texture by it, just for a vignette effect. There are more that are very easy done with 1 node (abberation and barrel distort) as well.
