Pulling a person into an already existing scene

Postby SaltyCowdawg » Mon Aug 12, 2013 5:13 pm

Hi folks,

Another query:

If I have a scene that's already been developed and I pull a MakeHuman character into it I've noticed that the characters tend to tower over the rest of the scene like the Jolly Green Giant. When I export to mhx I normally set the units to centimeters since I normally do my modeling in metric anyway. I noticed the default is decimeters.

What "scale" are the resultant characters?

Exactly what you choose. If you choose 'centimeter' scale every centimeter will be one blender unit large. So a person of 1.8m will be 180 blender units high, which is quite large. The same character with dm scale will only be 18 units high in blender.

Note that upon importing an MHX file you can choose the scale in the advanced options to the left of the screen where you choose your file to load.

If you append an already imported MHX object from another blender file you can try scaling the object, though I am not sure whether rigging could be affected by this.
