exporting mhx for unity3d

Postby avery » Wed Sep 19, 2012 2:46 am

Firstly, sorry for my poor english.. I'm not a native speaker.
I need to use my animated mhx in Unity3d, is this possible? If so, which is the right way to export it and that allows to use my created scenes?
Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, the mhx format is Blender specific. If Unity can import collada, you can try to export your character as a collada file.

According to their information page, they can import both blender (through FBX) and collada: http://unity3d.com/unity/editor/importing.

I had a lot of issues using the pipeline of MakeHuman/Blender/Unity/Mecanim using the mhx. I switched to the SimpleRig export and I've got all of it working except for a strange issue with the teeth being displaced. Consider trying that as the pipeline is greatly simplified.

Unity documentation mentions this about Blender to Unity integration. Blender version and functionality seems a bit limited.
Maybe this approach works better. It uses an FBX exporter that is not included in Blender distributions and has to be downloaded separately. The exporter uses the AutoDesk FBX SDK so the exported FBX file should be better supported by Unity.
