This item contains two textures: an alpha-map and a bumpmap. Combine those as shown in the picture "Cycles_Shader". This is an additional hair-mesh to be combined with the scalp "Hair_male_half_bald". You have to give credits to Nathan Vegdahl, Beorn Leonard, and Jonathan Williamson, based on an initial design by David Revoy.

Can you still make diffuse

Can you still make diffuse textures for these assets, for those of us who are too stupid or too conservative to learn to use cycles?

Sorry, ...

...but i can't. If you had more knowledge on cycles nodes, you could have noticed that the best thing at this nodetree is the fact that you don't need a diffuse texture. You just dial a hair-color. This way you have millions of possible hair-colors within one folder.
In fact i knew someone would complain about lacking diff-texture, and i tried to be nice and bake a combined-pass, but i failed at baking the alpha. I dunno how to bake a diffuse texture with alpha-channel. Please forgive my inability.

EDIT: Couldn't you just choose a diffuse color in BI and use the alpha-map to determine where to apply the color?
