First, sorry for my English, I am not an English speaker!

I would like to show how I use makehuman (1.1.1) in 2D, to create comics.

After doing some testing, I never use Blender again, which for me is too complex. I use in makehuman the modeling, the assets (clothes, materials, poses, expressions), I use the utility "Editor of Materials" to possibly change the color, then once the character suits me, I make a copy screen.
Then, with Photoshop I remove the solid background, and I get a clipped character, which I can then include in an image of my comic.
For the backgrounds of my comics, I use either personal photos or free and royalty-free images that I download.

Today I'm putting online a comic strip from the soap opera I'm currently working on, which is called Line and Amande.
Details:

The language I use in this comic is Europanto: it is a language invented by Diego Marani, ex-translator at the European Union, which mixes the main languages of Europe, first to be understood by readers from different European countries, but especially for the entertaining effect that results.
My comics are gay-friendly and feminist, so if this sensitivity is foreign to you, no need to insist!

My heroines, Line and Amande: Line is an inspector of the repression of coercion (!), Amande is a modern witch (besides her broom is a vacuum cleaner). They form a couple and walk around everywhere to play the vigilantes.

In the episode that I am offering you, they take a trip to the past, to the Middle Ages; small exception to the Europanto rule: the inquisitor in purple speaks old French! He says: "The woman who fails must lose a limb each time, and the third time must be killed". The fault is of course a homosexual act.

I take advantage of this publication to underline to what point makehuman is a software that performs well by itself; there are more and more active clothing and hairstyles, and we can very well manage with it. What is missing the most are the poses, because they are almost infinite, and in the same way that there is an Expression Mixer utility, it would be great to be able to create them directly in makehuman, without having to go through Blender .

I would like to take this opportunity to particularly thank Elvaerwyn and Punkduck, who have always responded with great availability and kindness to all the asset requests that I have been able to send them.

Hi Flute,

Great to see some of your high-quality images made with MakeHuman in here. It is a good example, what also can be done with the program, especially when the focus is different and the program is used for comics.

And about language: Well, most of us are not native speakers. The idea of Esperanto not really worked unfortunately and Europanto is a way to show the different languages in one text (or comic), although this language seems to be born before the iron curtain between East and West disappeared (Slavic languages also form a group with a lot of similarities). But when I read them I am able to understand nearly all (because of redundancy or similarity). Same goes for the real languages. So if we do some mistakes, the reader normally has no problems to understand the text. I have to admit that e.g. German, French or a Slavic language are all grammatically more complicated than English, so the decision for English was best for conversation when no artificial language was accepted. :geek:

Considering your statement: artists usually live in a world which show us different points of view in life. This means more awareness and normally open-mindedness as well. And more honesty. Just as an example: the same institution which burnt "witches" in your comic has problems today with pedophilia and partly with homosexuality as well. That's not religion, it is misuse of secular power and it was (and still is) not limited to this institution ... So a serious topic in a comic. I like that.

Thank you very much for your encouragement! I appreciate and will gladly continue to publish extracts from my comics, developed thanks to Makehuman.

The episode that I am offering you is simply a continuation of the previous one, so you already know the story. I of course always use Europanto, except in the image n ° 1 a sentence in Latin pronounced by the inquisitor: "Ecce crucem domini, fuge diabole", that is to say: "Here is the cross of our Lord, withdraw, devil! ", and in image n ° 3 a sentence in old French:" Gentes dames, que Dex vos beneïe! U duise me your? ", which means" Noble ladies, God bless you! Where are you taking me? "

Today, I am uploading another comic strip from the Line et Amande soap opera, on which I am still working: same characteristics, which you can find on page 1 of this gallery, and in particular use for the dialogues of the Europanto (language made from the main European languages).

My heroines, Line and Amande, continue their adventures.

They meet a transgender woman, Marie-Gilles, physically assaulted and harassed by teasing, and Amande, who is a modern-day witch, offers her to take her mind off a trip in space-time, aboard her broom-vacuum.

They land among the Amerindians. They greet them first with surprise, then with respect. It is in fact known that among the Amerindians, people whose gender identity is not clearly established are called the Two-Spirited Beings. The ability to see through the eyes of both sexes is a divine blessing to them. Two-Spirit-Beings are respected and fully integrated into society.

I used Europanto with the exception of the last image, where the terms "niizh manidoowag", which means "Two Spirits" are in Ojibway, the language of a large indigenous group in the United States and Canada, the Ojibwa. I am not a specialist in Native American cultures and all of this is of course approximate, as are the clothes and hairstyles, which I used according to the assets that makehuman offers me. I sometimes superimposed several clothes that had nothing to do with Native American clothes to obtain clothing that could resemble it. I also frequently use the Material Editor to change colors. This DIY is pretty fun to do.

The decor of the Amerindian village comes from an illustration from an old encyclopedia, with which I made a montage in Photoshop.

Hello everyone,

The episode I am offering you today is a continuation of the previous one. Line, Amande and Marie-Gilles, transsexual woman, traveled in space-time and arrived among the Amerindians, who received them very well.

In this episode, I still use Europanto (see in my first post the definition of this language), but also a kind of pidgin that is supposed to sound phonetically like a Native American language while remaining understandable by a European reader.

Marie-Gilles confides in a group of Native Americans, she says it is difficult to be transgender on a daily basis. A member of the group is surprised: with us, he says, there are five sexes. At your house, only two?

Marie-Gilles dances to the sound of a tribal song, but Line and Amande must leave. Marie-Gilles prefers to stay with her new friends. They leave each other. Line and Amande get back on their broom-vacuum cleaner to return to France.

Hello,

One episode among others of my soap opera "Line and Amande": in this episode, I still use Europanto (see definition of this language in my first post)

Line, inspector of the repression of coercion (!), is interested in manspreading (posture adopted by some men in public transport, consisting of sitting down with spreading the thighs and then occupying more than the width of a seat, which forces the neighboring women to curl up). Line's lover, Amande, a modern witch, has fun reversing the situation.

For the backgrounds of my comics, I use either personal photos or royalty-free and free images that I download.

Hello,

Another episode of my soap opera “Line et Amande”: in this episode, I always use Europanto (see definition of this language in my first post), as well as a little French slang in the lines of passers-by ( image n ° 1).

Line, inspector of the repression of coercion, as well as her lover Amande, are shocked by the lack of civility of the people in the street: they throw all their waste on the ground. Line points it out to them, and is insulted in return. Amande, who is also a witch, offers everyone a free trip to space: they rush. Once in the air, on the modern broom of Amande, a vacuum cleaner, they take full force their garbage which has flown away ...

For the backgrounds and various objects of my comics, I use either personal photos or royalty-free and free images that I download.
