Makehuman 1.1.1 "FATAL EROR"

Postby SkyPixel » Thu Apr 11, 2019 5:03 pm

Hello, Yesterday I downloaded Makehuman version 1.1.1 as well as Python 2.7 via the official website. I have them installed and unpacked but it does not run. Only an error message is displayed "_ _ failed init _ _".I am attaching an image of the message that appeared. I searched the other topics of the forum and I finding only one answer: that of a corrupted download. I looked in Makehuman’s files and I can’t find the file "makehuman.log". I would like someone to have a solution to my problem.

PS: I am French and I don't know if the translation is correct

a) did you completely unzip the downloaded file?
b) make sure no antivirus/security tool is blocking the execution of the application

You probably will never get a error log. This type of error usually indicates something is going seriously wrong before MakeHuman itself starts up.

For MakeHuman 1.1.1 release on Windows and Linux, I don't think you should need to download python 2.7. On windows the files are part of the install and on most linux distros it is built in. Are you sure you don't have a corrupted python version hanging out in your path?

Hello, thank you for your answers. I will uninstall Python and MakeHuman and reinstall them. Do you have an exemple of software that could better unpack files than "WinRar" or use the "Windows" decompressor?

I think I have corrupted files of Python in my path. Because I have uninstall Python and MakeHuman. I have download a new application for unzip the file and MakeHuman. But the problem isn't solve. I even stop my antivirus (Bitdefender) to find out if it's him who was causing this problem.

Can I have an exemple of the file from your path ? because I can't use the Application.

I use standard windows Explorer to extract the .zip and it works fine. What version of Windows are you using? What is your graphics card? Is there a file named makehuman.log? Assuming you are on Windows 10 it should be in C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\makehuman\v1 If there is such a file perhaps you could attach it.

Perhaps the other thing to be certain about is that you ARE talking about installing the binary Makehuman 1.1.1 and not the source code from bitbucket. If the latter we need to be thinking about dependency issues which I was not until now.

We can try to diagnose this further, but let me suggest an alternative. The alternative is to download and use the current 1.2.0 alpha 3 version which is quite stable at this point and uses python 3 (all needed files supplied; no install necessary) rather than python 2.7. This version is a zipped extractable installer. The program can then be started from the start menu. If you wish to try this, you can find more information at http://www.makehumancommunity.org/wiki/Releases:120a3 Click on item 12 in that wiki index to learn where to download.

Ok thank you. I will try to download the binary version. At worst if it still does not work, I will install Pyhton 3 and Alpha 3 of the version 1.2.0. Because the file "makehuman.log" still does not exist. I use Windows 10 and I have an "Intel Core i3" with "Intel HD Graphics 4400".

Do not install Python 3 repeat do NOT INSTALL IT it is part of the newest alpha built in so no need for a separate Python install you will not be running the source version.
