Broken .stl File

Postby BixGlant » Sat Feb 02, 2019 1:05 am

When I export a mesh that I have modified is never seems to be complete. I want to make a 3D print. When I load my model into the Slicing software it always has missing pieces.
For example a man with no chest. I couldn't find any info on this condition in the FAQ. I am very new and at a loss as to what is wrong. Somebody, please help

You should get better results by exporting to blender first then using blender's .stl export as I believe it is much more mature than ours but not having a 3D printer myself I can not verify this a few of our members have done so they hopefully chime in.

Enjoy the Choice :)

A random idea is to check geometry | clothes and make sure to uncheck "hide faces under clothes"

We had a problem #1153 which was fixed somewhen in the past.

When I changed the code of stl-exporter to work correctly with triangles I saw exactly the same problem. Parts of the stl geometry were simply missing, especially when it was called with additional assets (clothes). I had an official version running, the fix was done after the release I loaded as far as I know. In the new version it is fixed.

For a quick workaround you can change that also for the current release, using the appended file also triangles are supported correctly:

in "plugins" directory change

9_export_stl/mh2stl.py

to my version:

mh2stl.py
(5.14 KiB) Downloaded 529 times

(please make a copy of the original file before ...). I hope this helps ...

Which slicer? I recently ran across an object that wouldn't work in Slic3r, but was just fine in Cura.
