Adjusting clothing after posing character

Postby agedperson » Thu Nov 08, 2018 3:20 am

Nearly every tutorial I've come across shows how to pose a character by moving an arm or a leg and the clothing pretty much follows along. I'd like to know how to adjust the skirt of a secretary squatting down to pick up a dropped paper. I exported (into Blender) the female MakeHuman model wearing the business suit. When I moved her to a squat position the skirt was badly draped. I switched to Edit mode thinking to adjust some vertices but, of course, the Edit mode flips back to the original standing mode. I haven't even reached noob status yet and don't know what Search terms to use to find out how to adjust the skirt. I checked pinning, sewing, draping etc but I can't see anything that helps. How do people with a functioning brain go about doing what I'm trying to do?

Your problem is that the armature modifier isn't displayed in edit mode, causing stuff to look like this:

All you need to do to fix it, is to switch on display in edit mode and show cage in edit mode:

Thank you, Joel.
I must say that "armature modifier" was not something I googled.
One more tiny step for pre-noob, one giant step for me!
