Plugins page

Postby joepal » Fri Mar 09, 2018 9:19 am

I've now created a page listing all functional plugins, together with links for downloading the latest version: http://www.makehumancommunity.org/content/plugins.html

If you use the asset downloader, you may want to take a look at this page and follow the link to update to the latest version.

IMPORTANT: when doing so, also update MHAPI.

Thanks for providing this page. We might see less people with outdated stuff in the future.

Makewalk has always been around part of the original blender tools along with maketarget and makeclothes it is a blender add-on that will load a bvh file and retarget it to the current armature in blender.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Yes. And has been included in the MH install files with MakeClothes and MakeTarget. Also, typically, all three were included in one zip as a separate download.

If I recall, MakeClothes required MakeTarget. So I can see them being 'bundled' in one zip, as on the new Plugins Page.

But, the new Plugins Page has no link to download MakeWalk. ???

Thx for that maybe Joel forgot to include it but you can find it as part of the Bitbucket source code repo it's in the folder blendertools.

Enjoy the Choice :)

The reason I did not include makewalk in the list is that it is unmaintained and that the original author is no longer around to answer questions about it. I also did not include some other plugins which are experimental/dysfunctional/unmaintained.

This querry has been in my head for some days, but I never got around to posting ... ;) ;)

First off, I like MakeWalk and it has worked well for me every time I've ever used it, so I'd hate to see it go away before there is known dysfunctionality.

Second, I downloaded the .zip with MakeClothes and MakeTarget and when I went into Blender only the MakeClotes seems to show up. I'm not sure if this is the intentional behavior of the download even though MakeClothes requires MakeTarget, I thought that there was separate MakeTarget functionality on the N menu when they were in separate .zip files.

Am I misunderstanding something, or would it be reasonable/make sense to have a MakeTarget.zip, a MakeClothes.zip, and a MakeWalk.zip on the plugins download page?

It's no technical problem. I just wanted to avoid confusing users.

Maybe it'd make sense to indicate what status a plugin has, such as whether it is in active development, if anyone supports it and so on and so forth.

Other plugins/related which are around which also could be added: animation_retarget, io_mhrigging_mhskel, weighting (all in makehuman-utils), the asseteditor (in pre-alpha, on github), cli utils for socket (on github), perspective mode... There are probably a few more which have been attached to forum posts etc.

I'm aware of the fact that most plugins will most probably stop working with Blender 2.8 when there's no one around to make them work with the modified Blender API, but right now MakeWalk works just fine. It's the best plugin for retargetting I've seen so far.

I'm still working on this project: http://www.makehumancommunity.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=15170

I didn't make much progress over the last months due to lack of time and some issues that aren't easy to fix. I wouldn't have anything without MakeWalk. There's no need not to mention MakeWalk just because it's unmaintained. Does MHX2 have a maintainer?
