Good afternoon everybody ,
this is the result of my academic thesis in Dentistry at University of L'Aquila; Abruzzo; Italy : "Study and implementation of a decomposable virtual skull in 54 anatomically correct elements" By Dr Mariano Coretti

Quick question: What kind of polygons have you used?

I'm assuming that you used quads, as that is the only polygon system that Makehuman and Blender will accept.

I created such a model a while ago; it was mapped from a medical scan (all triangles) to Blender quads.

Yes, i used quads.
Even I started from the interpolation of tac images of 2 different skulls
... then a lot of work
