Filters in asset downloader

Postby joepal » Thu Apr 06, 2017 2:43 pm

I've taken some time to take another look at the asset downloader. I still have on the todo to implement expressions, but to start with I'm looking at implementing a few filters:

Any other suggestions for properties one might want to filter downloadable assets according to?

Some quick starter ideas that come to mind (at least fthink of just clothes; perhaps a set of filter for each type of asset?):
gender: male, female, unisex
location on body: head, thorax, legs, whole-body
type of clothing (for clothing): formal, casual, historical, superhero, futuristic
Completeness: no material, single material, multiple materials, textured, advanced maps

I don't know which of these make most sense, but it should help start a discussion.

A general limitation is that the filter function can only act upon information that actually exists. For example, there is currently no way to specify what gender a clothes asset is for when uploading it, and there's no way for the asset downloader to guess this.

Completeness might be possible though. That'd only require a check for if an asset has the required files.

If you open the asset DB in a web browser, you can see what information is available: http://www.makehumancommunity.org/sites ... ssets.json

is a search possible? like a search for a term that might show up in title, category or description, that way if im looking for a hat and search "hat" the word will likely be in one of those fields and return a result
or if i search "tennis" i would get results for clothes and poses which would probably be beneficial

"containing term in title" and/or "containing term in description" should be possible to implement. That's a good idea.

I ended up doing a heavy refactoring of the entire asset downloader plugin, to support more elaborate management and filtering. This is a first screenshot of the new filter listing actually working:

And oh, it seems I've forgotten to change the title back since I made the "MakeTherapist" screenshot...
