Though I think that the foreground model should have the same pose as the background wire-frame or mirrored.

Enjoy the Choice :)

That's an interesting idea. I will give it a try.

First Draft

Postby DredNicolson » Mon Jan 16, 2017 1:56 pm

My own first draft (not yet an official entry). I decided on a swimming theme, to showcase the topology and work with an interesting camera angle. Model uses gschabau's Snorkel Diver 01 pose with Mindfront's F Bikini 01, and several of callharvey3d's muscle definition custom targets. The three pointed fingers are pointing out that it's one point one point one! :o (A serendipitous result. I didn't go for that deliberately.)

Still need to create a suitably underwatery background and set up some better lightning on the main model. Maybe some bubbles, too.

My first draft of splash screen contest entry:

It looks assymetric, and I'm not satisfied with the fading between skin and wireframe. But I guess you get the basic idea.

Definitely go with showing off the both the male and female rigs! :D I'd also suggest using the best of user-contributed clothes, and have the wireframes show both the clothes and the body mesh underneath.

As for the Makehuman logo, place the medallion in the lower right hand corner, and perhaps a beautiful open-source font for the title 'Makehuman', just above the border. The idea would be to let the graphics tell the story, and have the name more understated.

HTH. :)

Second Draft

Second Draft
Now includes a background and better lighting. The text and logos can be stamped on the bottom color swatch.

As I suggested, you've gone with the muscular topology and the braid. You probably want to use a more complex clothing mesh; Punkduck's 'Bikini-02' would add a lot to the 'hot muscular' look.

Given how much information is in your graphic, I think joepal is right; it will take several splash pages to do MH honor. One for female, one for male, at least.

I would suggest using the 3d MH medallion on all of them, as the new logo.

RELEASE!!!

Ok, this is the official contest entry. Anything I did the last two days made the image worse, so I thought: Maybe it's finished. I adopted Loki1950's idea of repeating the pose on the wireframe character. I also visualized the rig although I rejected Punkduck's idea at first. Other changes are harder to see. Thanks to RobBaer for providing the initial spark and thanks to Punkduck and Loki1950 for helpful feedback.

And this is how it should look like to be usable as a splash screen:

Yes, that it the way I thought of the skeleton. The bones are visible, but not annoying, so the message only is, "you may pose the character".

But especially the more colorful look and feel is something that adds some kind of vigor to the scene. Especially a splash screen should use these attributes.

Release!

I've polished it to my satisfaction, so here's my official entry. Different swimwear, my MH medallion, nicer looking superimposed bones, and splash screen captions.
