Adding IPA animation support

Postby ButtFly » Wed Aug 27, 2014 1:41 am

The IPA(International Phonetic Alphabet). Explains how the mouth should move while speaking. Adding this to MakeHuman would allow for quick scripting of dialog. A character could say nei̯ hou̯, hello in chinese or ɦaləu, hello in dutch without hours of adjusting mouth flaps.

Hi ButtFly,
welcome.

I quickly looked at it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internatio ... c_Alphabet
but I don't see a clear description of position of the muscles of mouth...do you have some references?

This would be a related issue to integrating Makehuman with the Ekman Facial Action Coding System; namely, how does the MH base mesh and facial rig map to human facial muscles? :geek:

If the team could supply such a map, I could have the Ekman FACS ready to donate to the project sometime in October of this year (now that I have purchased the Ekman manual). :)
