Make Human in Wired UK

http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/201 ... expression

"The realism is courtesy of open-source program Makehuman, which Pelletier describes as a "parametric character generation tool" that helps users build expressive 3D figures. Using a slider system, things like age, race, weight, height and muscle tone can be tweaked. It's like a much more sophisticated build-your-own-SIM system that lets you tweak everything down to nose size or dimples. "

A very interesting article. Thank you for sharing it!

I can really relate with some of the artist's remarks about how uncanny working with MakeHuman can sometimes feel.
"It's a super useful tool but also a profoundly weird way of looking at the human figure," says Pelletier. "It feels really odd to reduce a person's unique features into a series of sliders. [...]
Playing around with the software was definitely a big part of the inspiration of the piece, specifically the discomfort and weirdness I felt when working with the software."

The article is also on the US Wired site: http://www.wired.com/design/2013/08/par ... al10572934

My brother just sent me the link. There are more comments there, and some people (rightly, I believe) criticize the "artist" for doing very elementary stuff (MakeHuman's models can do ANYTHING!) and calling it art.

Agreed. For all the kudos rightly awarded for getting published in Wired, it isn't a patch (pun intended) on the Geisha Project. http://www.makehuman.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=308 :)
