Busted clothes in MC2

Postby SaltyCowdawg » Sat Feb 22, 2020 10:23 pm

I just created a very simple piece of clothing (actually it is a WIP) consisting of a skirt split up the sides. When a dressed an avatar in it I see this:

split up the sides and torn in the front

so what could I be doing wrong?

The short answer is, MH doesn't handle clothes that don't cling to the body very gracefully; they're particularly vulnerable to distortions when placed on models different from the default they were designed with in Blender.

You want to have a look here:

http://www.makehumancommunity.org/wiki/ ... on:Clothes

Specifically, scroll down to "What if automatic vertex groups don't work?" While I was the one who wrote that section, I've since found that sometimes just doing things the default way works better--and I can't predict when that will happen. In your case, that's obviously not going to be true, but I would try it with and without step #3--whether that one improves or harms things is very hit-or-miss.

Allo Salty, did you use the skirt helper to port this? If not I would recommend giving that a try-have had great success with this with new convert clothes.

I did. I actually used the skirt helper as a starting point. Beginning to think that might have been the issue.

Slugging away at this.

The skirt helper usually works pretty well--I think it's the most useful of all the helpers.
