Climbing pose?

Postby Faithbuilders » Sat Jul 28, 2018 6:32 pm

Not sure if this the the right space, sorry if it's not. I have been looking unsuccessful for climbing pose. In my story I boy is climbing a rock tower, but climbing a ladder or rope would also be very handy. Does anyone know where I might find a basic climbing pose for MH? Thank you.

The cmu mocap database is the best free resource I'm aware of. It has a large collection of actions that you can search for. There seems to be a " climb ladder" animation. Download the bvh files from a link on the resources page: http://mocap.cs.cmu.edu/resources.php

(quick tip: dae files tend to break in makewalk, mhx2 works better)

Thanks for your response, but am I missing something? You said to download the bvh files, but when I click on the "action" it only gives me tvd, c3d, amc, mpg, avi options?

In the page i linked you, the "cgspeed" link is where the bvh versions are found. Theyre broken up into several zip files, as the database is very large.
Animations are organized by subject (folder) and action (filename). In the zips these are only identifed by number, with descriptions only on the web site. The search page i told you about is so you dont have to manually sift thru hundreds of files. Although now that i think about it, there may also have been a spreadsheet with the descriptions included in the zips (its been a while).

In the cgspeed link i believe the "daz" and "3dsmax" versions both work. MH also has an official motionbuilder skeleton (it may have been moved to user assets, though.)

And I forget if I said it in this thread but I get better luck with mhx2 > dae.

I have downloaded all of the zip files the are both a .rft and spreadsheet file that is included in the zips to find the action you want at the moment.

Thank you for your help, I downloaded the first zip file to try, moved all the .bhv files to "program files/makehuman.../data/poses" directory. I opened MH and under poses they are there as 01 01, 01 02.... with no thumbnail, but when I click on the pose, nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong. I noticed that the .bhv files that came with MH also have .meta files and .thumb files. So how do I get this group of downloaded .bhv files to work. Thank you.

Animations are what those .bhv files which is in fact a series of poses some more than 1000 separate poses to create a motion/action are and there is currently no support for them within makehuman you will have have to use blender and a blender addon called makewalk.

Crap, I was avoiding Blender, it's such a huge learning curve; I just don't have the time to spend on that, plus my computer can't run the newest Blender. Thanks for your responses anyway. That being said, are there any tutorials that get to the point on makeing a .bhv file work in MH using MW. Thanks again.

Then someone here on the forum can do a climbing pose in blender and add it to our community assets for you to use as for avoiding blender it can be daunting as you said the learning curve is steep(cliff like for some) poses for MH are just a single frame animation in .bhv format .

Thank you, that would be nice, however I will need to learn that myself sometime, as I am sure I will need other poses, and I don't want to ask here every time. :P
