@punkduck How do you import a pose into MakeHuman from Blend

I see on the "User Contributed Assets" people have uploaded poses from other means that can be imported and used in MakeHuman. How do I make my own poses and import into MakeHuman?

Hi

  • In Blender you should use the default-rig or the default-no-toes rig.
  • Pose your character as you like
  • In Pose mode, press a, so that all bones are selected (blue color)
  • Press i to insert this as a keyframe (use e.g. LogRotScale), a yellow bar appears in the timeline, if you change nothing, the keyframe is at No. 1
  • Export this as Motion Capture file (.bvh), select your keyframe-No. as Start Frame and End Frame, otherwise you save a sequence.
  • Move the new file into the MakeHuman data/poses directory.
  • The file is plain ASCII, it consists of a skeleton description, some motion constants and a long line with all values per frame. Since you only add one frame it is one last line.
  • If the character is "hovering" to high, you can change the third parameter manually (it is z coordinate of the root bone) with an editor. I normally change it to have less problems with the view in MakeHuman.
